EX-TDCJ Clemens unit Officer Amber Purkey has been charged with inappropriate sexual contact with an offender after having a child which she admits to have been fathered by an offender she was charged with confining. Purkey was employed by the TDCJ at the Clemens unit in Brazoria up until a few months ago after the charges were investigated by the agencies law enforcement branch the office of inspector general (OIG).
The Brazoria County DA's office released information that a grand jury indicted Purkey on the charge this month and subsequently issued a felony warrant for her arrest. Law Enforcement Officers from the Sweeny Police department along with the Brazoria county Sheriff's office attempted to serve the warrant over the past few days but were unsuccessful.
Purkey untilmately turned herself in yesterday, bailing out under a 75,000 dollar bond. Purkey faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the crime. The father of the baby is still incarcerated at an undisclosed prison facility. We will keep you informed as to the sentence imposed as the time comes.
I remember my training at the academy. If you never had someone at HEB tell you your fine. Then why all of a sudden would you believe a convict. Him telling you your fine. Yes in prison you are all fine, unless you like men. If you were hit at birth with a ugly stick, your still ugly. Wake up, now our tax payers will pay for that baby. Lucky she knows who the daddy was. She probaly got the job to see her man RayRay. Now I hope RayRay sues the state for rape. Good riddens to now both convicts.

I don't understand what makes these officers think that they would get away with doing this type of crap. I think TDCJ should administer Lie Detector tests randomly and do it annually (during inservice)where they’ll ask several question pertaining to the job, such as “Have you ever or are you currently involved in an inappropriate relationship with an offender”, “Are you currently or have you ever brought any type of contraband to an offender”. The results would then be sent to OIG for further investigation.

At Havens it is custom to jak with a offenders parole. The good old boys stick together in Brownwood, Texas. She was white trash anyway.

ReplyDeleteThere are so many instances of inmate babies at Clemens, I cannot begin to give a complete list. I don't why the other cases fail to get investigated or prosecuted. It is like the word is out to the tramps that Clemens is the unit to get assigned to, if you want to get pregnant by an inmate who is never going to get out of prison.
ReplyDeleteGatesville has its share of male officers getting their share of action. One sargent nocked up two female offenders and was transfered. No prison time for him. Todd Harris did not like her , so she got busted. This is not counting all the married officers relationships that go on. One office lady was sexualy harassed by a Major. Nothing never happened to him. They forced her to leave. I went to two TDCJ parties, that's all it took for me. I'm a happy married man.

He has a reputation for being such an upstanding, no nonsense, self-rightous, moral leader (tongue-in-cheek). Maybe someone should see if Senator Twitmire will get to the bottom of this.
Someone forgot to mention how many Sgt's and such get with officers and have babies by several but still keep their job when it is against policy to date a subordinate. If those who were harassed were to file a class action suit tomorrow, TDCJ would be broke before it's over.

To talk crap about that baby is wrong on so many accounts. She met a man and fell in love....who cares how or why....you're not paying her bills or living her life! People are really good at pointing fingers but let's talk about real issues that happen at THAT particular unit. What about an officer who for no reason slams an offender 1/2 his size to the point it gives that young man a mental condition and he will no longer be able to function normally though life again? What about writing a statement and it's tore up in your face and you are told to re-write it because the "truth" wasn't stated when the "truth" is actually a lie to cover that bosses ass? What about filming a use of force that was un-necessary and his buddy who held rank took the tape, ripped the film and told the officers that the camera ate it? Why is it ok for some officers to hug up on offenders (in front of rank) because they come from the same side of the tracks? You're right....it's not illegal for officers to date other officers but where are the moral values when the officers are married and while their spouse is at home waiting on them they are banging their co-workers and then bragging about it during shift briefing. Officers spitting in the food of offenders, pissing in a cup and throwing it on an offender, strip searching an offender asking him to lift his penis, spread his butt cheeks then ordered him to open his mouth and spread his face cheeks open then telling the offender...how does you D*** and ass taste!! Working in an area where you need assistance breaking up 2 guys fighting and your fellow officer, the one that is supposed to have your back, is too lazy and fat to come assist and puts your life a danger.You people have no clue unless you work there or are told and then you have no clue if what you're told is the truth or not. It's sad that y'all want to trash one individual on her wrong doings but you need to look at the big picture. You don't like her because of her sins....well just because she sins differently than you doesn't make YOU a better person than her. Did she break the law? Yes...but it is her to pay the price not you. They are involved with the church now that he is out (going on 9 months), they attend every Sunday and Wednesday. They even help out their homies that get released by showing them an honest way of life. ReplyDeleteSifuentes got rid of a lot of dirty officers there at Clemens...Connally, Darrington, Wayne Scott and where ever he has been assigned. He's a Senior Warden now and has been promoted 2 or 3 times since he was at Clemens. He was usually right about who was dirty. Dirty bosses are back at Clemens now and no one is doing a damn thing. How long has it been since we walked one off? He was right about Purkey!

DeleteIt is truly sad that employees like this give the Agency and other employees that work for the agency a bad reputation. As a employee that has worked for the Agency 23 years I can say this mess right here is not a failure of TDCJ itself it's strickly on that employee . TDC doesnt raise or teach its employees values or morals . You may meet the qualifications that Agency outlines to be a Correctional Officer however if you don't have any morals or values in your up bringing than you are more opt to fail as a Correctional Officer. Lord knows we as employees know it's wrong and are held to a higher standard so I hope she gets what she deserves . Heck if the Agency started making sure these employees are prosecuted and not just with probation sentences but suffer more severe penalties maybe it might make people think twice before getting involved with a convict !! All I can say is in my 23 years I have been employeed with TDC I never thought to cross that line and have always taken my job very serious !!

I go to civil court in September because his punk a$$ says I permanently damaged his larynx and broke two of his incisors ... me I got two broke ribs fracture orbital socket busted my index and bird fingers on his head and (dont laugh unless youve worked corrections)messed myself because I was waiting for pill window to end for a piss break

I knew of a supervisor at Clemens who assaulted an inmate while in restraints was just re hired / transferred to another unit and i heard she was recently assaulted at her new unit. If officers report wrongdoings by staff they are considered snitches (even the assistant warden made comments during staff turnout that we should be careful of snitches in grey) TDCJ says they want to change and preach about integrity, but this agency is plagued with Supervsors at the highest levels that will never change. I honestly don't see how Prison reforms anyone in TEXAS .
